SPS is dedicated to educating the community about physics. We do demos everywhere from classrooms to the Diag to the Ann Arbor Hands On Museum.
This is our annual outreach event at the children's hands-on museum. We build demos and visit the museum for two days to show them off to children and their parents. PhysicsPalooza usually takes place in late March/early April at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, 220 E. Ann St. Ann Arbor, MI 48104, although this year it will occur on February 20th and 21st. Hope to see you there! Feel free to contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions about this, or other, events.
Each year in May the UM physics faculty hosts a competition for high school physics students. The students participate in various events as well as a quiz bowl. Email us to help out!
This year, SPS is partnering up directly with Mr. Wagner's English classes at Cesar Chavez Middle School. The program will consist of regular letter exchanges, as well as planned visits for both the kids to campus and SPS volunteers to Chavez. If interested, please sign up here!
SPS also takes trips to local schools to explain various physics topics to students of all ages. We have an annual trip to Burns Park Elementary, but last year SPS also visited Ypsilanti High School to give a physics of art presentation.
This year, SPS will be at Burns Park Elementary on Tuesday, November 13th, 6-8 PM.
